Hitler himself actually took a dump in them

TAKING A DUMP IN SOLTAU GERMANY 1982 From my book “The Unnamed Soldiers”

The bogs at Soltau were old field bogs, thunder boxes left over from the 2nd World War in fact there’s a good chance Hitler himself actually took a dump in them. You walked in and there were just rows of holes on a long strip of wood and a few bog rolls scattered around, you could be sitting next to your mate sharing a crossword, there was no privacy.

A certain Corporal in our platoon came back from the bog well pissed off he’d had a few too many beers and was being sick down one of the holes and lost his false teeth, we all went back to the hole in question with torches to see if we could locate the teeth, we looked down the hole, I shouted there it is I’ve found it, found what? My teeth said the Corporal. ‘No one of Hitler’s turds, yes I can see your teeth,’ the only person we could think of at that moment who would fit down the hole was one of the lads in the platoon, he was about 5 foot and a dog end and dead skinny it wasn’t long before we had him by his ankles dangling down this hole armed with a stick and an army torch wedged in his mouth, we were well prepared, we were also fully aware that if we’d dropped him he would have been well in the shit!

Anyway we recovered the teeth and the Corporal was well pleased, but we couldn’t be prepared for what happened next, he just took the teeth poured some water over them out of his water bottle and popped them straight back in his mouth and said hold on a minute these aren’t my teeth.
